Update: Weekly Mirror Call

Hi, everyone!

Starting June 4, 2022, I’m going to start hosting weekly mirror calls via Microsoft Teams. Mirroring is a fascinating phenomenon that boosts productivity, and with how many side projects I have going, I could certainly use the boost! The idea is that by sharing a space (virtual or otherwise) with someone who is working on a project, you have motivation to work on your own project so that you can “mirror” what that other person is doing.

Here’s the tentative plan for the calls, all in Central Time:

  • 12:45 p.m. — log on and get situated
  • 1:00 p.m. — start first writing sprint
  • 1:45 p.m. — 15 minute break
  • 2:00 p.m. — start second writing sprint
  • 2:45 p.m. — 15 minute break
  • 3:00 p.m. — start final writing sprint
  • 3:45 p.m. — wrap up and chat (optional)
  • 4:00 p.m. — log off

I’ll be logged on for the duration to keep the meeting open, just stepping away briefly during designated break times, and I’ll set alarms for myself to keep track of time for us. I’ll drop a message into the chat when it’s time for a break and again when it’s time to resume.

Video is totally optional, but I’ll have my camera turned on during writing times so that you can get the benefits of mirroring. The only thing I ask is for us all to have our microphones muted and keep chats to a minimum until we’ve reached a break time. We’ll figure it out as we go, and I’ll update this post with any extra details I think of before the first call.

Interested? Use the form on my Contact page to send me a message by June 4, including your email and name (or pen name/brand name), so that I can email you an invite to the call.

Let me know what you think and I hope to see you on Saturday, June 4 🙂

Katy
